Tungsten

Typical shielding densities approaching twice that of high density Lead Blankets of similar thickness. Highly flexible and can be molded/formed into any shape. Often competitively priced to lead alternatives. NPO will engineer and fabricate specialized profiles, slabs and ribbon, including lockable "High Rad" applications. Tested to 550°F/288°C for continuous use.

Tungsten Shielding Application Example: Provide Shielding for small bore pipe using NPO's "T-Flex" Tungsten Shielding System

  • Shielding of 3/4" Schedule 160 Small Bore Piping.
  • Pipe O.D. of 1.05" with 9/16" of tungsten shielding yeliding a shielding O.D. of approximately 2-1/4" for a maxiumum weight of 10 lbs. per linear foot of piping
  • The elbows will be formed by cutting shielding material at a 45 degree angle and butting the sections together at the elbow. Add supplemental shielding at elbows, "T"s, etc. as shielding impact will result in a Gamma transmission of 40% or better.
  • Suggested lengths of 18". Lengths can be cut-to-fit as needed during installation.

NPO Part No. T62PIPSHD.75X18 Tungsten Shielding for shielding 1" O.D. (approx.) piping. Approximate weight per foot is 10 lbs. The shielding O.D. is 2-1/4" or approximately 9/16" effective shielding thickness. Provided in 18" lengths approx. 15 lbs Each.
